Zelensky held a phone call with European Commission President von der Leyen
Kyiv, August 28 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he held a phone call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
President Zelensky stated that he spoke with Commission President von der Leyen.
Expressing gratitude for the condolences and solidarity shown to their people after the Russian attack, Zelensky said: "Last night was one of the largest attacks against Ukraine. The Russians chose Kyiv as the main target. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing. We are grateful to everyone who now stands with Ukraine and does not remain silent."
Zelensky emphasized that they discussed diplomatic efforts to stop the massacres, end this unjustified Russian aggression, and ensure real security for the people, stating:
"Precisely for this purpose, much work is being done at various levels. But until Russia takes real steps toward peace, pressure on it must be increased. Ursula shared up-to-date information about the preparation of the 19th EU sanctions package and coordination with other partners."
Zelensky added: "We also discussed our European integration process and the simultaneous opening of negotiation clusters for Ukraine and Moldova. We expect a positive decision in the near future."
