Zelensky spoke with UN Secretary-General Guterres
Kyiv, August 28 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
President Zelensky announced that he had spoken with UN Secretary-General Guterres.
Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Guterres for offering condolences and solidarity to the Ukrainian families who lost their loved ones in Russia’s night attack on Ukraine, stating: “This was one of Russia’s largest attacks. All necessary services continue to work on the ground and eliminate the consequences of this strike.”
Zelensky noted that they discussed steps that must be taken to stop human losses and added:
“However, Russia only puts forward new conditions and continues its aggression. We support Secretary-General Guterres’s position that a ceasefire must be the first step towards real peace. I thank the Secretary-General for his clear support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The world must reestablish the strength of international law and respect for the principles of the UN Charter.”
