UN Secretary-General Guterres underlined that the loss of life and destruction in Gaza in recent times are unprecedented, stating: "Gaza is filled with rubble, bodies, and examples of serious violations of international law."
Emphasizing the urgent need for a lasting ceasefire, Guterres said: "Hostages must be released immediately, and the horrific treatment inflicted upon them must end. Civilians must be protected."
