Budrys: EU accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova must advance
Vilnius, August 28 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys held a phone call with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka and European Commission official Marta Kos regarding EU accession negotiations.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Budrys held a phone conversation with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka to discuss the launch of EU accession negotiations.
During the call, it was emphasized that Lithuania firmly supports Ukraine’s rapid integration into the EU as an important security guarantee both for Ukraine and for Europe.
Budrys said: “Ukraine’s EU membership is the strongest security guarantee Europe can provide. Our goal is for Ukraine to join the EU by 2030.”
Budrys also discussed with European Commission official Marta Kos the issue of opening key negotiation chapters with Lithuania, Ukraine, and Moldova.
He stressed that EU enlargement is unthinkable without Ukraine, underlining that accession talks must progress with both Ukraine and Moldova, and that the process should continue as EU26 if not as EU27.
