Trade volume between Russia and the EU hits 25-year low
Moscow, June 18 (Hibya) – According to Eurostat data, trade between Russia and the European Union fell below five billion euros in April, reaching its lowest level since 1999.
Russia's exports to EU countries dropped from 2.6 billion euros to 2.15 billion euros in mid-spring, compared to the previous month.
At the same time, Europe's exports to Russia decreased by 7%, falling to 2.6 billion euros.
As a result, in April, the trade volume between Russia and the EU dropped by 11% compared to the previous month to 4.7 billion euros — the lowest level since September 1999. The last time mutual exports fell below five billion euros was in June 2024.
Germany remains Russia’s main trading partner among EU countries, but its trade volume also fell by 13% in April to 684.5 million euros. Meanwhile, trade with Hungary increased by 16%, reaching 551.5 million euros. Italy’s trade volume declined by 4% to 436.9 million euros.
