Sandu: If Moldova's democracy cannot be protected, no democracy in Europe is safe
Brussels, September 9 (Hibya) – Moldovan President Maia Sandu emphasized that if Moldova’s democracy is not protected, no democracy in Europe will be safe.
Moldovan President Sandu delivered a speech at the European Parliament about Moldova and the struggle for democracy.
Highlighting that Moldova’s stability is Europe’s stability, Sandu said: “Our peace is Europe’s peace. And if Moldova’s democracy cannot be protected, then no democracy in Europe is safe.”
Sandu noted that on September 28, Moldova will face the most important election in its history, saying: “We must choose. Will we strengthen our democracy on the path toward EU membership, or succumb to Russia’s destabilization, becoming a threat to Ukraine and Europe?”
