Mucunski: The Western Balkans should not become a grey zone
Brussels, May 11 (Hibya) - North Macedonian Foreign Minister Timco Mucunski stated before the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels that the enlargement of the European Union is a strategic necessity for both candidate countries and the EU.
Mucunski delivered messages regarding the EU enlargement process in his assessment before the European Union Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting held in Brussels.
Mucunski stated that enlargement is an inevitable necessity for both the European Union and candidate countries, emphasizing that the Western Balkans should not remain a “grey zone” in Europe. He stressed that the region should have a clear and credible perspective toward EU membership.
In his statement, Mucunski also drew attention to North Macedonia’s full alignment with the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), saying that this is a strong indicator of his country’s European orientation.
The minister also stated that stronger joint cooperation with the European Union is needed in the areas of security, economy, energy, and digitalization.
