Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also said in his first comments since Friday that Israel made a "major mistake" by starting the war.

In a statement read by a presenter on state television, Khamenei said: “People who know Iran, the Iranian nation, and its history, and are intelligent, will never speak to this nation in a threatening tone, because the Iranian nation will never surrender.”

“Americans should know that any U.S. military intervention will undoubtedly be accompanied by irreparable damage,” he added.

The New York Times, citing U.S. intelligence officials, reported that Tehran has prepared missiles and other equipment to strike American bases in the region if Washington joins the war.

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump said his “patience is running out,” and in a two-word post on Truth Social, demanded Iran's surrender: “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”

The Trump administration initially distanced itself from the war, stating that Israel acted alone, but in recent days has ramped up both its rhetoric and military presence in the region.
