Australian Foreign Minister Wong stated that the Australian government is deeply concerned about the increasing unrest and violence in Nepal.

Offering her deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives, and emphasizing that their thoughts are with all the injured, Wong said: “We call on all parties to exercise restraint and resolve the situation peacefully. Australia supports human rights and universal freedoms, including the right to protest and freedom of assembly.”

Wong added: “We have raised the level of our travel advice for Nepal to ‘reconsider your need to travel’. Australians in Nepal should stay at home and follow the advice of local authorities.”
