U.S. and Russia exchanged two prisoners
Moscow, April 10 (Hibya) – As Russia and the United States pursue an agreement to end the war in Ukraine, the two countries conducted a prisoner exchange early Thursday morning in Abu Dhabi, signaling growing mutual trust.
Russia released Ksenia Karelina, a dual U.S.-Russian citizen sentenced to 12 years in prison for treason after donating less than $100 to a U.S.-based Ukrainian relief organization.
In exchange, the U.S. freed Arthur Petrov, a German-Russian dual citizen arrested in Cyprus in 2023 at the request of the U.S. for allegedly exporting sensitive microelectronics.
