Russian President Putin met with Qatari Emir Al Thani
Moscow, April 17 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is on an official visit to the country.
Talks between Russian President Putin and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani are ongoing at the Kremlin.
The international consultations began with a closed-format meeting. The Russian side is represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, First Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Russian side of the Russia-Qatar Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation Denis Manturov, Presidential Advisor Yuri Ushakov, Chechen Republic President Ramzan Kadyrov, Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina, and Rosneft CEO and Chairman Igor Sechin.
During the meeting, Putin said: “We know that Qatar has made very serious efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unfortunately, the initiatives in which you were involved have not been implemented; peaceful people in Palestine continue to die — this is today’s real tragedy, a very serious tragedy.”
Al Thani responded: “There is no doubt that Syria is going through a very difficult period, and of course, we must support the new Syrian government’s aspirations to ensure territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
