Qatar to continue ceasefire talks in Gaza
Stockholm, September 10 (Hibya) - Qatar plans to continue ceasefire talks in Gaza and the return of hostages held by Hamas, despite Israel’s airstrike on Doha yesterday.
Hamas announced that six people were killed in the airstrike on a Hamas base in Qatar’s capital, Doha. The group has had a base in Qatar since 2012, where many senior officials are located.
The Qatari Prime Minister said that the attack was a turning point for the region and that Qatar reserves the right to respond.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strike was in response to Monday’s armed attack in Jerusalem, which killed six people. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack.
US President Donald Trump said that Israel’s decision to attack Qatar came entirely from Netanyahu and that he disagreed with it.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump stated that attacking a sovereign country and a close friend and ally of the United States served neither Israel’s nor the US’s goals. Many world leaders condemned the attack.
