Macron appoints Lecornu as new Prime Minister
Paris, September 10 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed Sébastien Lecornu as the new Prime Minister following the resignation of François Bayrou.
Lecornu has served as defense minister for the past three years and is the fifth prime minister during Macron’s presidency.
A statement from Macron’s office said that Lecornu has been tasked with consulting all political parties in parliament on the government’s controversial budget bill and securing its approval.
Lecornu faces the same challenges as his predecessor, who failed to get the budget bill, which includes major cuts, passed by parliament.
