Lithuania sues Belarus over illegal migration
Vilnius, May 19 (Hibya) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys announced that Lithuania has filed a case against Belarus at the International Court of Justice.
Budrys described the flows of illegal migration and human trafficking organized by Belarus since 2021 as a regime-backed strategy.
He emphasized that Belarus’s use of migration as a weapon is an effort by the Lukashenka regime to destabilize regional security and serves the Kremlin’s hybrid warfare strategies.
Budrys stated: "Since 2021, we have witnessed regime-sponsored human trafficking and the weaponization of migration — a clear sign of the cynical brutality of the Lukashenka dictatorship, aiming to destabilize regional security and serve the Kremlin’s hybrid warfare interests."
