Guterres: Africa’s renewable energy potential is an opportunity for global transformation
New York, April 28 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that Africa has great potential in renewable energy, digitalization and a young workforce, calling for global solidarity and investment.
Guterres said that Africa’s renewable energy capacity, rapidly increasing digital connectivity and young, skilled workforce offer a critical opportunity for global development.
Guterres emphasized that investment in integrated development solutions is necessary to unlock Africa’s potential. Highlighting the importance of strengthening global solidarity, he called for mobilizing large-scale investments for development financing and the energy transition.
Stating that electrification and a just transition to renewable energy in Africa must be accelerated, Guterres said these steps will be decisive for sustainable development both on the continent and globally.
