Al Ansari: Closure of the Strait of Hormuz is unacceptable
Doha, April 28 (Hibya) – Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed Al Ansari stated that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is absolutely unacceptable and emphasized that the crisis must be resolved through diplomacy. Doha also announced its support for regional mediation efforts.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Al Ansari made statements regarding the country’s foreign policy agenda during a weekly press briefing held in Doha.
Al Ansari stressed that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is “unacceptable under any circumstances,” opposing its use as a tool of political or military pressure. He highlighted that keeping the strait open is critical for energy security, food supply, and global supply chains.
Al Ansari said Qatar supports dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve conflicts and contributes to regional and international mediation efforts, particularly those led by Pakistan.
He also noted ongoing coordination among Gulf Cooperation Council countries and emphasized the need to accelerate the diplomatic process to resolve the current crisis, adding that Qatar continues its contacts with the aim of ensuring regional stability and achieving a lasting solution.
