Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a statement on the explosions that occurred following a Russian attack in the village of Myla in the Kyiv region.

Zelensky said the explosions occurred because ammunition had been stored near people and announced that the incident would be investigated.

Zelensky said he had been receiving reports since last night and throughout today about what happened in the village of Myla in the Kyiv region. He said explosions began in the area following the Russian attack and described the incident as “a terrible situation.”

Zelensky criticized the storage of explosives right next to people, saying: “A terrible situation and terrible negligence by those who stored explosives right next to people.”

Referring to earlier events in Vyshneve, Zelensky described the recurrence of a similar situation as “absolutely unacceptable.”

Zelensky said he expected the details of the incident to be made public quickly, saying: “I expect the details to be presented to the public quickly.”

According to Zelensky’s statement, the first strike in the village of Myla targeted an ammunition depot that he said should not have been located in the area.

Zelensky said the depot belonged to the Ukrainian Defense Forces and contained shells, mines, other ammunition and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Emphasizing the significant scale of the explosions, Zelensky said: “The first strike targeted an ammunition depot that absolutely should not have been there – a Defense Forces depot. Shells, mines, other ammunition and drones exploded. The scale is significant.”

Zelensky announced that he had spoken about the incident with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zelensky said these institutions have all the necessary capabilities for the investigation and that the details of the incident would be established.

Zelensky also referred to the work of teams operating not only in the village of Myla but also in other areas where Russian attacks had taken place.

Zelensky thanked everyone on the ground who continues working to help and save people, saying: “I also want to especially thank everyone who is there on the ground and at other sites of Russian attacks, doing more than everything they can to help and save people.”
