Tajani holds phone call with Iranian counterpart Araghchi
Rome, April 22 (Hibya) – Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani discussed the Strait of Hormuz and regional security issues during a phone call with Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

Sharing details of the call, Tajani said: "I encouraged him to work swiftly to find a constructive solution to the crisis in Iran and to restart positive relations with neighboring Gulf countries."
Referring to the need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Tajani stated: "It is essential to quickly reach a ceasefire agreement that guarantees the safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and confirms that Iran’s nuclear program is solely for civilian purposes."
Emphasizing Lebanon and regional peace, Tajani said: "I stressed the priority of achieving a lasting ceasefire in Lebanon and encouraged all parties to commit concretely to a stable and shared peace."
Highlighting Italy’s stance, Tajani added: "Italy is ready to support dialogue and actively contribute to strengthening stability in Lebanon and across the region."
