Qatar participates in OPCW’s 113th Executive Council Meeting
Qatar participated in the 113th Executive Council Meeting of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
At the meeting held in The Hague, the Netherlands, the Qatari delegation was headed by the country’s Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the OPCW, Ambassador Mutlaq bin Majid Al Kahtani.
In Qatar’s address at the meeting, Al Kahtani said that issues affecting international peace and security cannot lead to lasting stability if crises are managed through temporary solutions or conflicts continue without a just resolution.
Al Kahtani said dialogue based on international law, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, mediation and goodwill initiatives are sustainable means of resolving regional and international conflicts, while expressing concern over the humanitarian situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the widening of conflicts and attacks in the region.
Al Kahtani stressed that the application of international law should not be selective, saying that sovereignty and energy, industrial, oil and petrochemical facilities should not be targeted.
