Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the sidelines of the MED9 Summit in Split.

Plenkovic said they discussed the agenda of the upcoming European Council meeting, noting that energy affordability and security of supply were among the priority issues following developments in the Middle East. He also outlined the Croatian government’s measures to cap fuel, electricity and natural gas prices.

The meeting also addressed negotiations on the new Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028-2034 and the implementation of Croatia’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Plenkovic said applications for the final payments under the 10-billion-euro program were submitted last week.

Plenkovic also stressed, following the general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the importance of Croats having a legitimate representative in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He called for the formation of a new government, the establishment of political stability, the continuation of reforms and the implementation of electoral reform that would guarantee the equality of the three constituent peoples.
