Moscow, May 8 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso.
According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Vladimir Putin welcomed the President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, at the Kremlin on May 7, 2025, during his visit to Moscow to attend the ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War Victory.
The ministry's statement included the following remarks by President Putin:
"Mr. President, we appreciate your interest in our relations. You have visited our country many times, both during the Soviet era and more recently. Russia and the Republic of the Congo share similar positions on many global issues, and we highly value our cooperation within the UN. Strengthening relations with Africa is one of Russia's foreign policy priorities. At the St. Petersburg summit, a comprehensive package of documents was adopted, including a joint declaration and an action plan through 2026. Work is ongoing to implement these agreements. Today, we will have the opportunity to discuss these matters and our bilateral agenda in detail. Mr. President, I would like to express my pleasure at seeing you again. Welcome to Russia!"
