Pavel: Europe’s security is being shaped on NATO’s Eastern Flank
Prague, May 13 (Hibya) - Czech President Petr Pavel stated that Europe’s security is increasingly being shaped on NATO’s eastern flank and that threats originating from Russia pose a direct security risk.
Czech President Petr Pavel made assessments regarding European security.
Pavel stated that Europe’s security today is being shaped on NATO’s eastern flank, in the region stretching from the Baltic to the Black Sea. He said that the B9 Summit demonstrated the importance of cooperation among countries in the face of increasing incidents along the alliance’s borders.
Emphasizing that attacks originating from Russia are not a distant threat, Pavel noted that this situation constitutes a direct security risk.
Pavel also stated that in Bucharest, together with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other partners, a common approach was being shaped ahead of the summit to be held in Ankara.
