Lazzarini said that one of the most horrifying updates he regularly receives during the war in Gaza is the death toll among UNRWA staff.

He noted that this number has surpassed a terrifying threshold, exceeding 300: “The vast majority of staff were killed by the Israeli Army along with their children and loved ones – entire families were wiped out. Some died in the line of duty while serving their communities.”

Lazzarini emphasized that most of the deceased were UN health workers and teachers, adding:

“Nothing can justify these deaths. Impunity leads to more deaths. Those responsible must be held accountable.”
