Guterres: Africa’s potential is constrained by an unjust system
New York, May 11 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke about the position of the African continent within the global system.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that the obstacles standing in the way of Africa’s economic and political potential must be removed.
Drawing attention to imbalances in the international system, Guterres said, “Africa’s enormous potential is constrained by an unjust international system. This must change.”
Arguing that the continent should play a more active role in global decision-making mechanisms, Guterres said, “We must continue to push for a system that gives Africa the voice, resources, and representation it has long been denied.”
