Carney: I hope everyone can return home safely
Ottawa, August 8 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed support for citizens evacuated due to wildfires affecting the Summerland area of British Columbia.
Carney said thousands of people had been evacuated from their homes because of the threat posed by the fires and thanked the firefighters and first responders working in the region. Carney said, “I thank the brave firefighters and first responders working tirelessly to keep people safe.”
Noting that the federal government is ready to support the British Columbia government in fighting the fires, Carney said he hoped citizens forced to leave their homes would be able to return safely. Carney said, “I’m thinking of everyone who had to leave their homes, and I hope they can return safely soon.”
