Araghchi: Enrichment in Iran Will Continue
Tehran, May 18 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that enrichment in Iran will continue, whether there is an agreement or not.
Araghchi said, “Our American counterparts are naturally free to publicly say whatever they deem appropriate to distance the Special Interest Groups — malevolent actors who shaped previous administrations’ agendas — from talks regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.”
He noted that the only thing Iranians can do is to refrain from negotiating publicly, particularly given the inconsistencies we see from week to week between what the Americans say in public and in private.
Araghchi emphasized, “Iran's stance as a member of the NPT is very clear, and there is no scenario in which Iranians would deviate from their rights.”
He added, “If the U.S. is truly interested in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, an agreement is within reach, and we are ready for a serious discussion to reach a solution that ensures this result permanently. But enrichment in Iran will continue, agreement or not.”
