Zelensky stated that he spoke with President Trump following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Calling it a decisive moment, Zelensky said, “The world can now see whether their leaders are truly able to secure a ceasefire and achieve real, lasting peace.”

He confirmed to Trump at the beginning of their bilateral meeting that Ukraine is ready for a full and unconditional ceasefire, as the United States has stated.

“It is important not to water down this proposal. If the Russians are not ready to stop the killings, stronger sanctions must be imposed. Pressure on Russia will push it toward real peace – this is clear to everyone in the world. I also reiterated that Ukraine is ready for direct negotiations with Russia in any format that yields results.”

Zelensky said he also discussed possible next steps with European leaders: “Every proposal on the table deserves an honest evaluation, so the negotiation process must involve both American and European representatives at an appropriate level.”

He concluded, “Russia must end the war it started – and it can begin doing so at any moment. Ukraine has always been ready for peace.”
