UNRWA: One in five people in Gaza may face famine by September
New York, May 12 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) has stated that one in five people in Gaza may face famine by September.
UNRWA continued issuing warnings about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. The statement noted that one in five people faces a serious risk of hunger by the coming September.
The statement emphasized that ongoing hostilities, mass displacement, and severe restrictions on humanitarian aid delivery are deepening extreme hunger in the region daily. “Hunger has become a fact of daily life,” it read.
UNRWA called urgently on the international community to ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered without delay or obstruction.
