Ukraine calls on UN Security Council: A clear stance against Russia is needed
Kyiv, June 19 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced that the United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting tomorrow evening following Russia’s recent attacks on Ukraine.
Sybiha thanked Guyana for its presidency and all member states that supported Ukraine’s request.
The minister stated that many civilians were killed in Russian airstrikes and called on Security Council members to adopt a principled and clear stance against these attacks. He emphasized the need to increase pressure on Russia and to provide Ukraine with additional support, particularly air defense systems.
Sybiha also reminded that Ukraine accepted the U.S. proposal for a full ceasefire 100 days ago, saying this offer could have opened the door to a real peace process, but Moscow still refuses the proposal and continues attacking civilians.
