Tsahkna: The credibility of election observation is not open to debate
Tallinn, March 20 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna reacted to the appointment made to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly election observation mission.
Estonian Foreign Minister Tsahkna stated that the credibility of election observation is not open to debate.
Claiming that the appointment of Daria Boyarskaya, who has ties to the Kremlin, to coordinate the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly election observation mission fundamentally undermines confidence in the integrity of the process, Tsahkna said:
"At a time when Europe faces constant attempts to distort democratic outcomes, election observation must uphold the highest standards of independence, transparency and impartiality. Anything less risks turning a vital safeguard of democracy into an instrument of influence."
Tsahkna stressed that the upcoming elections in Hungary must be free, fair and completely free from any suspicion of external interference.
