Tajani sends message of support to Lebanon
Brussels, May 13 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that during his meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji, they discussed preserving the ceasefire, preventing new escalations, and the disarmament of Hezbollah.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani reiterated Italy’s support for Lebanon’s security and stability during his meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji.
In his statement regarding the meeting, Tajani said, “We reaffirmed Italy's full support for Lebanon’s stability and security.”
The statement noted that ahead of the ongoing negotiations between Lebanon and Israel in Washington, the parties emphasized the importance of preserving the ceasefire, preventing new escalations, and working toward the disarmament of Hezbollah.
Tajani stated that Italy would continue to play its role in the region, saying, “We will continue our support, from humanitarian assistance to civilians and displaced persons, to strengthening Lebanese institutions, the Armed Forces and Security Forces through UNIFIL, the bilateral MIBIL mission, and the Technical-Military Committee for Lebanon.”
The Italian minister also stated, “The safety and integrity of our UNIFIL blue helmets and civilians remain an absolute priority.”
