Qatar and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the fields of mediation, humanitarian activities and international humanitarian law.

According to a statement by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Qatar's Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Mariyam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad and ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.

It was stated that the agreement covers cooperation in the fields of mediation, humanitarian action and international humanitarian law.
