European Parliament President Roberta Metsola shared her views on Sassoli’s legacy and the vision of the European Union as part of the commemorative events held in Florence.

Referring to the meaning of the visit and the respect shown to Sassoli, Metsola said: “It is a pleasure to be in Florence, the cradle of European culture, freedom and thought. Today, I pay tribute to David Sassoli in his hometown of Florence.”

Highlighting Sassoli’s impact on democratic values, President Metsola stated: “His example continues to inspire the Europe we want to build: a Europe of hope, solidarity and peace.”
