Kos: More than 4,400 European citizens have been brought back from the Middle East
Brussels, March 10 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced that following the tensions in the Middle East, more than 4,400 European citizens were evacuated under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
EU Commissioner for Enlargement Kos stated that through the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism, support was provided for the safe return of European citizens from the region to their countries.
Kos explained that following the recent tensions in the Middle East, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism supported 56 flights to bring back more than 4,400 European citizens, adding: “These flights also included 5 flights carried out to Slovenia.”
Kos also underlined that this support is a practical demonstration of European Union solidarity.
