Cooper: Too many lives have been lost in Sudan
London, June 19 (Hibya) - UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper expressed deep concern over reports of a planned military attack on the Sudanese city of El Obeid and called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to withdraw.
Referring to the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and the military activity in El Obeid, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stressed that all parties must stop the fighting.
Stating that the RSF should end its military operations, Cooper said: "Reports of a major imminent attack on El Obeid are extremely concerning. The RSF must withdraw immediately."
Repeating her call for the protection of civilians and the opening of humanitarian corridors, Cooper said: "All parties must urgently de-escalate, allow civilians to leave safely, and ensure that life-saving aid reaches those in need."
Cooper concluded her statement by saying: "Too many lives have been lost in Sudan. This attack must be stopped immediately."
