Prime Minister Carney noted that Russia “brutally” attacked Ukraine last night, killing innocent civilians in residential areas and damaging the Cabinet of Ministers building.

He added that his heart is with the wounded and with all those mourning their loved ones, stating: “A just and lasting peace for Ukraine will require strong and reliable security guarantees. Last night’s cowardly attack underlines the urgency of this mission.”

Carney reiterated that Canada remains resolute in its commitment to the Coalition of the Willing and continues its willingness to provide direct and scalable military assistance to achieve lasting peace.
