Brekelmans: Our goal is to ensure Europe's security
Amsterdam, June 19 (Hibya) – Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced that the army will be reinforced with an additional battalion, drones, and new gevechtsvoertuigen (armored combat vehicles) to increase the country’s defense capacity.
Minister Brekelmans stated that this investment was planned based on lessons learned from the war in Ukraine. He emphasized that the new steps will also strengthen the Netherlands' contribution to NATO.
In his statement, Brekelmans said, “Our aim is to prevent a possible new Russian aggression in Europe. By enhancing our military capabilities, we aim to increase deterrence and ensure Europe’s security.”
