Araghchi: We have never sought nuclear weapons and never will
Tehran, June 19 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran has never sought and never will seek nuclear weapons.
Foreign Minister Araghchi emphasized that Iran acts solely in self-defense. Even in the face of the most heinous attacks against its people, Iran has so far only retaliated against the Israeli regime and has not responded to those aiding or abetting it. "Just as Netanyahu started this war to destroy diplomacy, the world should be deeply concerned about the failed Israeli regime’s increasing efforts to save itself and spread the flames across the region and beyond," he said.
Highlighting that Iran has proven in action what it publicly committed to, Araghchi stated, "We have never sought nuclear weapons and never will. Otherwise, could we ask for a better excuse than the current aggression of the only nuclear-armed regime in the region?"
Araghchi stressed that Iran will continue to use its right to legitimate self-defense with pride and courage, making the aggressor regret and pay for its grave mistake. "Except for the illegitimate, genocidal, and occupying Israeli regime, we remain committed to diplomacy. As before, our outlook is serious and forward-looking."
