Volker Türk: Mongolia’s commitment to the UN Human Rights system stands out
Ulaanbaatar, May 12 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk issued a statement after his official visit to Mongolia, appreciating the country’s commitment to international human rights standards.
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk met with senior officials and representatives of civil society during his visit.
Referring to the content and productivity of the visit, Türk said, “I am leaving Mongolia after a constructive visit filled with candid and informative meetings with senior officials and civil society organizations. We have much to take forward.”
Emphasizing the state of human rights globally and Mongolia’s place in this picture, Türk said, “At a time when powerful countries openly question human rights, Mongolia’s commitment to the UN Human Rights system stands out.”
