US Secretary of War Hegseth: Iran will no longer pose a threat to the US
Washington, March 8 (Hibya) - United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth made statements alongside Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine.
Key highlights from US Secretary of War Hegseth’s remarks:
"Iran will no longer pose a threat to the United States. Iran begged for this ceasefire and we are all aware of it. As the president shared this morning, today is a great day for world peace. Iran said enough and they were the ones who requested peace.
The epic operation of fury ended on the battlefield with a historic victory. From any perspective, our operation has rendered Iran’s military unable to fight or recover even in the coming years.
We have completely eliminated the ability of the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism to defend itself, its people, and its territory.
Together with our Israeli partners, the US military achieved all its objectives. It was carried out on the planned date and exactly as intended from day one. Iran’s navy is now at the bottom of the sea. It is no longer possible to speak of a comprehensive Iranian air defense system. Iran’s skies belong to us.
Iran sent hundreds of missiles and hundreds of kamikaze drones toward our aircraft carriers. They carried out these attacks obsessively, yet not a single one reached our carriers; they were neutralized hundreds of kilometers away.
We have completely dismantled Iran’s defense industrial complex. After our last 800 strikes, the only thing left to them will be a few pieces in underground shelters.
If Iran had not accepted our conditions, the next targets would have been energy facilities, bridges, and oil installations. They would neither have been able to defend them nor rebuild them for decades.
President Trump had the power to cripple Iran’s entire economy within minutes, but he chose the opposite—he chose mercy. Iran’s new regime realized that an agreement was far better than the fate awaiting them.
Under the agreement, all of their nuclear materials will be taken. Currently, the nuclear material is underground and is being monitored from space 24/7. From the beginning, Trump said clearly: Iran will never have a nuclear weapon."
Key highlights from US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine’s remarks:
"We hope Iran chooses lasting peace. If the ceasefire is merely a pause, we are ready to resume military operations with the same speed, precision, and power. We have demonstrated this over the past 38 days, but we do not wish for that to happen.
80% of Iran’s air defense systems have been destroyed, more than 1,500 air defense targets have been hit, over 450 ballistic missile depots and 800 drone depots have been struck. None of these remain in existence anymore."
