Trump arrives in Saudi Arabia to begin Middle East tour
Riyadh, May 13 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in Saudi Arabia on the first major international trip of his second term, aiming to strengthen ties with three key allies and prove his strength as a "deal maker" on the global stage.
Trump was warmly received in Riyadh by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He is expected to speak later today at a U.S.-Saudi investment forum where Elon Musk is also listed as a speaker. Later this week, Trump will travel to Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Prior to the visit, the U.S. announced a weapons sale to the UAE worth over $1.4 billion. A number of agreements in areas such as artificial intelligence, chips, manufacturing, and energy are also expected to be announced. Trump may also unveil a major arms deal with Saudi Arabia.
