Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Cassis stated that the talks between Iran and the United States, hosted by Oman in Geneva and described as “good and constructive,” were discussed. “I welcome the possibility of further rounds of talks, as the continuation of this dialogue is an important step toward reducing tensions in the region,” he said.

Cassis also noted that numerous arrests and deaths linked to protests in Iran at the beginning of the year were addressed. “While acknowledging that there are differing views on this matter, I emphasized the importance of protecting civilians from all forms of violence and defending fundamental rights and freedoms,” he said.
