Selling pressure continues in Asian stock markets
Istanbul, October 23 (Hibya) - Asian stock markets declined amid concerns over artificial intelligence investments and a sell-off in technology shares. Japan's Nikkei 225 Index fell 1.3 percent, while South Korea's KOSPI Index dropped 1.7 percent, with rising energy prices also contributing to losses across the region.
Selling pressure concentrated in technology shares continued across Asian stock markets on Friday, October 23. Concerns over the financing costs of artificial intelligence investments and the expected returns from these investments led to declines in regional markets.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index fell 0.3 percent, while Japan's Nikkei 225 Index declined 1.3 percent and South Korea's KOSPI Index dropped 1.7 percent. In China, the CSI 300 Index fell to its lowest level since July 2025.
In addition to concerns surrounding technology companies, tensions in the Middle East, which pushed oil prices higher, also contributed to selling pressure in the markets. Brent crude oil reached $114 per barrel, while weakening investor risk appetite was reflected in stock markets across the region.
