Rubio: Freedom Project is a defensive operation, we are not opening fire
Washington, May 5 (Hibya) - U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio made statements regarding Iran’s nuclear program and regional activities, drawing attention to the Strait of Hormuz and security issues.
U.S. Secretary of State Rubio made assessments regarding Iran’s nuclear program and regional policies.
Arguing that Iran’s behavior differs despite its claims of a civilian nuclear program, Rubio said, “Iran does not act like it wants to have a civilian nuclear program for nuclear power plants. They are importing enriched material. They are acting like they want to have a military nuclear program.”
In his message to Iran, Rubio said, “Iran should not test the will of the United States, at least not under President Donald Trump. He WILL DO WHAT HE SAYS, and they will lose.”
Referring to regional tensions, Rubio said, “As the conflict continues every day, our leverage grows and Iran weakens. It is time for Iran to make a sensible choice. But doing so is not easy because the men at the very top are insane in their minds.”
In his assessment regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Rubio said, “The Iranian regime cannot be allowed to decide who uses this vital waterway.”
He also said, “There cannot be a situation where Iran benefits from piracy. That is why the blockade is in effect and these sanctions are crippling them.”
Regarding the U.S. approach, Rubio said, “Freedom Project is a defensive operation. We are not opening fire, but if fire is opened on us, we will respond with lethal efficiency.”
Finally, Rubio said, “The President has already stated that the U.S. holds all the cards. If Iran escalates, they will not have the final word.”
