Metsola: Stronger protections will be provided for workers to prevent occupational diseases
Brussels, June 23 (Hibya) - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola announced that an agreement had been reached on new legislation aimed at providing stronger protection for workers in the European Union against occupational diseases.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola stated that an agreement had been reached between the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union to establish new exposure limits for hazardous substances.
“Stronger protections will be provided for workers in order to prevent occupational diseases,” Metsola said, adding that the new limits would reduce risks and improve working conditions across Europe.
Metsola also thanked European Parliament Social Affairs Committee Chair Li Andersson, rapporteur Liesbet Sommen, and the negotiating team for their contribution to reaching the agreement.
