Macron: France maintains its presence to ensure maritime security in the Middle East
Paris, July 3 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France's mine countermeasure units will remain in the region to help ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, while the aircraft carrier has returned home.
French President Emmanuel Macron commented on France's maritime security operations in the Middle East.
Macron said France had deployed mine countermeasure assets, two frigates, and a maritime patrol aircraft to the region, noting that these assets were positioned primarily to help ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
He stated that France would continue to support the safe flow of maritime traffic in cooperation with its international partners.
Macron also announced that the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle had returned to Toulon, while the mine countermeasure units and escort vessels would remain deployed in the region.
He emphasized that France would continue to adapt its military presence in line with the region's security requirements.
