Katz: Acquisition of F-35 Lightning II and F-15 Eagle squadrons approved
Jerusalem, May 4 (Hibya) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the acquisition of two new squadrons of F-35 Lightning II and F-15 Eagle fighter jets has been approved to strengthen Israel’s air power.
Israeli Defense Minister Katz stated that a step has been taken to enhance Israel’s air defense capabilities.
Katz said that the acquisition of two new squadrons of F-35 Lightning II and F-15 Eagle fighter jets has been approved as part of an investment worth tens of billions of shekels.
According to the statement, this move is part of the “Israel Shield” (Magen Israel) plan, carried out in coordination with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which foresees adding 350 billion shekels to the defense budget over the next decade.
The plan aims to ensure independence in domestic ammunition production, maintain the air force’s superiority in future operations, and prepare the military for next-generation threats in line with lessons learned from recent conflicts.
