Iran reacts to US naval blockade plan
Iran warned it would give a “harsh response” to any possible new attack following reports that US President Donald Trump is preparing a long-term naval blockade against the country.
According to CCTV and international media reports, Trump is considering blocking port entries and exits to pressure Iran’s economy and oil exports. The blockade is described as “high-risk” but less risky compared to other options, aimed at forcing Tehran to make concessions on its nuclear program.
Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that Tehran has completed “all necessary arrangements” to counter a possible US naval blockade.
Ferdosipour also reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz is closed only to vessels linked to Israel and the US, arguing that Iran has the right to manage security in the strait.
According to data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped by 95.3% since February 27. This development has led to an approximately 6% increase in global food prices and about a 50% rise in crude oil prices in European markets.
