In his message, Guterres stated: "The Buddha’s teachings on compassion, tolerance, and selfless service must guide our shared journey. On this Vesak Day, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Buddhists commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Buddha."
Vesak Day is recognized as a traditional holiday celebrated by Buddhists.
