Former Ukrainian Energy Minister Galushchenko detained
Moscow, February 15 (Hibya) - According to Ukrainska Pravda, former Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko was detained while attempting to leave the country.
The report stated: “On the night of February 15, former Energy Minister German Galushchenko was detained while trying to cross the border. He was taken off the train.”
According to the information, Ukrainian border guards received a request from NABU and SAP regarding the former minister’s attempt to leave Ukraine. The anti-corruption bureau soon confirmed that Galushchenko had been detained in the “Midas” case related to corruption in the energy sector.
Since the summer, Galushchenko had been heading Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice. He was dismissed in the autumn after the investigation began.
In early November, searches were conducted at the homes of the former Energy Minister, at Energoatom, and at the residences of Timur Mindich, who is alleged to be the founder of a criminal organization and described as Volodymyr Zelensky’s “cashier.” It had previously been claimed that the businessman was urgently taken out of Ukraine.
Later, NABU published photos of bags filled with foreign currency and excerpts from audio recordings of three individuals known by the nicknames “Karlson,” “Tenor,” and “Rocket.”
These individuals are believed to be Mindich, Energoatom’s Director General for Physical Protection and Security Dmitry Basov, and Galushchenko’s advisor Igor Mironyuk. Former Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Chernyshov was also implicated in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau charged seven members of the criminal organization. Mindich and businessman Alexander Zuckerman were placed on the wanted list.
